MEASUREMENT GUIDE

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FRAME

LENS WIDTH

This is the width of one lens measured across, usually ranging from 40 mm to 62 mm. For regular spectacle frames, the lens width is often around 49–51 mm, while sunglasses are generally at least 2 mm wider to give you better coverage and protection.

BRIDGE

This is the space between the two lenses, usually between 14 mm and 25 mm. Most frames fall in the 18–21 mm range. Bridges that come with nose pads are often more comfortable, as they allow the glasses to fit more accurately on your face.

TEMPLE LENGTH

The temple length is the size of the frame’s arms that go over your ears to keep the glasses in place. For most adults, it is between 145 mm and 148 mm. You only need a different size if your face is unusually small or large.

Choosing Glasses That Fit Perfectly

Here are a few simple pointers to guide you to choose the right frames/sunglasses

·       The centre of the lens should line up with your pupils.

·       The frame should stay within the width of your face.

·       Spectacle frames shouldn’t cover your eyebrows, while sunglasses should either fully cover them or not at all.

·       The fit should feel comfortable — not so loose that the glasses slide down, and not so tight that they leave marks on your cheeks.

The frames shouldn’t dig into your cheeks or move up when you smile.
